Traditional Tanjore painting is known for its raised gesso work, gold leaf and sometimes semi-precious stone detailing, a technique developed under the Maratha rulers of Thanjavur and still closely associated with festive, devotional art. This box captures that same richly ornamented visual style and gold-toned palette in a flat, hand-painted reproduction rather than the raised gesso-and-gold-leaf original technique, keeping the look accessible on an everyday storage box.
