Description

Long before henna found its way onto a bride's hands, its motifs were already borrowed by artisans for metalwork — rows of florets, dotted borders, the same rhythm you'd find running along the edge of a brass pooja thali or the hem of a wedding dupatta.

This clock takes that border tradition and lets it take over the whole face: neat rows of hand-painted flowers march across a warm brass sheet, framed by a dotted trellis border along two edges, all done in fine black linework. It's a quieter, more disciplined henna composition than the free-flowing paisley you'll find elsewhere in Indian folk art — closer to the careful symmetry of a rangoli than a flourish of mehndi.

The brass sheet is backed onto solid wood and fitted with a working clock movement, made to sit on a study table, console, or bookshelf, where its fine linework rewards a second look.
