In Indian mythology, the peacock is never a background bird. It's the mount of Kartikeya, the crown ornament worn by Krishna, and a familiar presence in the courtly and folk paintings of Bihar and beyond, prized for a plume that seems to hold every colour without needing a single one.

Here, that plume is rendered in fine black linework directly onto a copper sheet, tail feathers unfurling in tight spirals accented with dots of white, the bird caught mid-display rather than at rest.
