Description
The lotus and the vine scroll together represent two of Kerala Mural painting's most resonant botanical elements. The lotus — Padma — is the flower of consciousness, purity, and the divine feminine; it appears in the hands and beneath the feet of deities across the Kerala Mural tradition. The vine scroll — the sinuous, tendril-bearing plant form that fills the borders and backgrounds of temple murals — is the Kerala Mural tradition's way of depicting the natural world as ornament, the garden of the cosmos made visible in repeating botanical form.
This downward triangle pendant places both elements in conversation. The orange/terracotta background grounds the composition in the warm mineral tones of the traditional palette. Across this ground, a white lotus flower occupies the left side of the triangle, its petals rendered in the Kerala Mural tradition's characteristic layered detail. A flowing teal-green vine with leaf details crosses diagonally, the vine's colour creating the cool counterpoint that the Kerala Mural tradition builds into almost every composition. A green diagonal stripe accent band adds structure, and a white mosaic-tile border frames the triangle's top edge.
The amber chip stone chain is the specific element that gives this necklace its organic character.
