Deer Gond Art Serving Tray – Hand-painted Mango Wood
Description
The Pardhan Gond community of Madhya Pradesh paints from a simple belief: everything alive carries a spirit, and a good picture should let that spirit show through. Their deer, gentle-eyed and alert, is built entirely from tiny dots and flowing lines, a technique locally called digna, until the animal seems to hum with the same energy as the forest it came from.
Our artists recreate that dot-and-line detailing by hand on solid mango wood, layering colour and pattern the way Gond painters have for generations. The result is sealed for everyday use, whether that means carrying it to the table for snacks or letting it stand as a piece of tribal folk art in its own right.
It suits anyone drawn to nature-inspired art with a story, and travels well as a gift for a new home or a festive occasion.
Material: Solid Mango Wood, hand-painted and sealed
Dimensions: 35 cm x 23 cm x 6 cm
