Description

A small black crown silhouette sits at the very top of this face, above a dense band of diamond shapes and floral medallions worked in black outline across the brow. Below, a black dotted eye mask frames pink-toned eyes, and a white ekir, the long curved ornament worn over the mouth in Theyyam to suggest fierce, bared teeth, replaces the mouth entirely. A striped maroon neck and matching striped base complete the piece.

Theyyam headdresses in real performance are often extraordinarily elaborate, and the crown silhouette here is a painted nod to that tradition rather than the towering physical headgear worn during an actual ritual. Hand-carved from solid wood, our artisans hand-paint the crown shape, the diamond-and-floral brow band, and the ekir using fine brushwork, building up the diamond and dot detailing with the same patience the real face art demands.

At a medium size, this piece is versatile enough for a bookshelf, console, or study desk without requiring a large dedicated display area. It's a solid entry point for someone starting a collection of Theyyam art, or a considered standalone gift.

Material: Solid Wood, hand-carved and hand-painted.

Dimension: 10 inches x 6 inches x 6 inches (head only).
                     Including base: 14 inches x 6 inches x 6 inches.
