In Nathdwara, Rajasthan, Pichwai paintings are made to hang behind the deity in Krishna temples - and the cow is one of its most sacred, most repeated figures, standing in for Krishna's childhood among the cowherds of Vrindavan. This round coaster set takes that same devotional imagery, usually seen in temple-scale cloth paintings, and brings it down to table size.
