Description
Krishna and Radha are almost never painted apart in Indian devotional art — their story is one of the most enduring in Hindu mythology, representing divine love and devotion. This set of two Aranmula-shaped frames sets them in profile, hand-painted in the Rajput painting style of Rajasthan, against a deep blue, dotted background reminiscent of a night sky.
Krishna appears with his eyes closed, playing his flute, crowned with a peacock feather; Radha is shown veiled, adorned with fine jewellery, her gaze lifted toward him. Hand-painted onto the traditional Aranmula-inspired wooden silhouette and finished in a deep reddish-brown wood tone, the two frames are designed to be hung close together so the pair appears to face one another on the wall.
