Contrast is one of the most powerful tools in Indian folk art. The Kerala Mural tradition built its visual authority partly on the drama of warm tones against cool grounds, of orange and red against green and blue, of gold against black. This pendant uses that contrast with deliberate clarity.

A teal/blue background gives the square pendant its mood — cool, deep, receding. Against it, the Kerala Mural female deity face emerges with a white complexion, an orange petal crown carrying circular sun motifs, and green leaf accents at either side of the headdress. The orange border around the pendant's edge, trimmed with a yellow dot-dash pattern, creates a frame that warms the cooler ground from the outside in.

The chain carries the contrast into its material: turquoise round beads — cool blue-green, natural stone — alternate with antique gold filigree barrel beads. The turquoise continues the teal of the pendant background; the gold echoes the pendant's border and the deity's crown.
