Kali is not a gentle deity. She is the cosmic destroyer, the one who stands on Shiva, the fierce mother who liberates by dissolving what must end. In West Bengal, Kali is the most beloved deity — worshipped in Dakshineswar and Kalighat with an intimacy and fervour that is specific to Bengali devotional culture. Kalighat painting, which emerged near the Kalighat Kali temple in Kolkata in the 19th century, depicted Kali in a bold, flat style that stripped away ornate detail in favour of emotional directness.

This pendant carries that directness. The silhouette-cut wooden pendant depicts the Kali face with the elements that make her immediately recognisable: jet black complexion, protruding tongue in the iconic Kali expression, red/orange headdress with bold ornamentation, yellow and red body detailing, a green teardrop accent. The silhouette cut of the pendant follows the Kali face's profile — irregular, asymmetric, shaped to the deity's specific iconographic form.

The black fabric rope chain, with black round beads, red/coral accent beads, and antique bronze barrel caps, mirrors the Kali palette: black, red, gold.
