Jaali — the perforated lattice screens carved into Mughal palaces and mosques to filter light while preserving privacy — takes on blue here, a colour the Mughals themselves borrowed from Persian and Central Asian architecture, visible in the tilework of Humayun's Tomb and mosques across North India. It's one of the few colours in Mughal design that arrived through trade and craft exchange rather than local tradition.
