Kerala Mural Brass Iron Box – Hand-painted Decor Design 1

Once an everyday charcoal iron, now a small sculptural object entirely because of what's happened to its handle. This piece keeps the vintage brass body untouched — its slots for hot coals still visible, its hinge and latch intact — while the wooden handle is hand-painted in a bold black-and-red chevron pattern with a single yellow band running through the centre, drawing on the visual language of Kerala Mural art.

This box begins its life as a genuine antique charcoal iron, the kind used across Indian households before electricity reached most kitchens. Rather than treating it as scrap, our artisans restore the brass body and hand-paint a completely new identity onto the handle, using Kerala Mural-inspired colourwork in place of the art form's more familiar figurative temple imagery. The zigzag pattern is worked freehand, stroke by stroke, which is why the rhythm of the chevrons has a slightly organic, hand-drawn quality rather than a printed precision.

Displayed on a shelf or console, it functions purely as a sculptural collectible — a genuine piece of domestic history repurposed as art. It's a distinctive gift for anyone who appreciates upcycled design, vintage brass, or the specific visual language of Kerala Mural painting.
