₹1,600.00
Thanjavur Dolls / Tanjore Dolls/ Thalaiyatti bommai, basically the few names by which this is known as, belongs to the Thanjavur region of Chennai and has a history dating to the 19th century during the regime of Saraboji’s Kingdom. The credit for the beautiful structure of the dolls goes to the King for his love for this unique art and his taste for vibrant colors. These have been added to the Geographical Indications of India by the Government of India in 2008.
This doll consists of four parts: the head, torso, skirt, and base. Once all parts of the doll are assembled, even the gentlest tap on the skirt will allow the doll to oscillate, transforming it into a beautiful dancer.
